Picture this: an afterschool program where children want to be there.

They want to go to the homework club. They want to write an article for the afterschool newspaper. They want to do more than color or play the same games every day.

They participate in on-going trainings and have earned an Afterschool Credential. They are knowledgeable about school day learning and they organize a homework time that helps children recall what they have learned. They plan stimulating, enriching activities for children that expand both their school day experiences and their understanding of the world.

These are the pictures ACROSS NH is painting throughout NH. With a cadre of talented consultants, we  provide comprehensive technical assistance, structured coaching and mentoring, and both basic and advanced professional development opportunities to the school-age, afterschool staff.

New! Awards for Afterschool

We are pleased to share that the Afterschool Community has two new awards to recognize their colleagues for excellence at the Celebration of Early Childhood and Afterschool Professionals on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

The first award is to honor Thad Mandsager’s legacy of civic contributions for the greater good of the youth and families in his community.  Recognized both as a leader in his field and an advocate for those he served, the “Thad Mandsager Award”  recognizes an afterschool provider who exhibits a similar social conscience and public spirit to what Thad exemplified in his community. Download the Thad Mandsager Award Nomination Form.

Additionally, the “NHAN (New Hampshire Afterschool Network) Excellence in Afterschool Award” celebrates a commitment to quality and professionalism in the field of afterschool.  This award will be presented to an afterschool professional who: fosters and encourages the development and sustainability of high quality afterschool programming, improves afterschool professionalism, and improves program quality by providing a wide variety of extended learning opportunities during out-of-school hours. Download the NHAN Excellence in Afterschool Award Nomination Form

If you know someone worthy of one of these awards please take the time to fill out the nomination form(s).  Nominations are due on or before Friday, February 6, 2015.

NH’s Afterschool Professional Development System

The NH Afterschool Professional Development System was originally launched in 2010 offering those working in out of school time programs a means to recognize their education, experience, skills and talents.  After months of thoughtful and diligent work, the Program Quality Subcommittee of the New Hampshire Afterschool Network (NHAN)  released a revised edition at the NHAN annual meeting on October 7, 2013.  The newly revised edition includes new lattice levels and provides for better alignment with the New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Rules and the increased requirement for professional development at all levels.  A complete copy of the revised NH Afterschool Professional Development System can be viewed by clicking here.

Have questions about the new Afterschool Credential lattices or need help with your application?  We are here to support you!  Download a copy of the revised version of the NH Afterschool Credential Application here and call us on our toll-free helpline 1.855.302.6678.
