SERESC Timeline
1974
14 school districts pooled their resources to establish SERESC, a new collaborative agency. First order of business was to establish services & programs to implement the new Federal Law on Special Education.
1979
SERESC developed regional educational programming for special needs students. The GET SET program for students with intellectual handicaps was established in two of SERESC’s district schools.
1979-1990
SERESC establishes itself as a clearing house for schools by hiring itinerant personnel to work in several districts. SERESC’s Brentwood and Birchwood Schools for emotionally handicapped students opened their doors for 60 students.
1990-2001
SERESC remains on the proactive cusp of service delivery to offer high caliber educational practices to the children of our school districts. SERESC’s core focus areas include:
- Education, including Special Education
- Professional Development
- Technology
2002-2006
SERESC’s Professional Development Center, a state-of-the-art videoconferencing center is completed in April 2002 and becomes one of 4 Educational Service Centers for NH’s Dept. of Education. Current projects include:- NH Center for Effective Behavioral Interventions and Supports (NH-CEBIS)
- Content Enhancement Instructional Leadership (CEIL)
- Special Education Program Approval
- Educational Surrogate Parent Program
- Parent Technical Assistance Network (PTAN)
- Autism Training
SERESC continues to grow through on-going collaboration with partners in the education, business and government sectors.
2006+
In response to requests for more and larger capacity conference rooms, SERESC’s Professional Development Center is expanded from 16,500 sq. feet to 32,700 sq. feet. The addition was completed in June 2007. SERESC also continues to grow its program offerings. New grant funded projects include:
- USDA’s Rural Utilities Services (RUS) and Telemedicine Grant
- US Department of Education’s Teaching American History Grant
- NH Department of Education’s Tutoring Grant
- NH Department of Education’s Special Education Focused Monitoring
- NH MAST
- NH RESPONDS
- NH READS
SERESC adopts a new mission statement. SERESC’s mission is to engage, support and inspire learning.
