New Consulting Group - Associates for School Change (ASC)



It is with great pleasure that we at SERESC announce the formation of a New Hampshire-based educational consulting group called Associates for School Change (ASC). 

Now more than ever, policy makers and the community are holding schools accountable for student results.   The central and critical work of our schools is to guarantee that all students are learning at a high rate. This presents an exciting opportunity to lead your school community toward significant change.   Working collaboratively with your representative school leadership team we will help to frame areas of concern and create a clear and measurable plan for improvement.

We are very proud to announce that at the 17th Annual "ED"ies Awards honoring excellence in education, Dr. Mary Morse received the Doris Barnes Educator Lifetime Achievement Award. We were thrilled to see Mary recognized for the quantity and quality of her work with children with special needs!

Also recognized was Kathleen Conlin, one of SERESC's Special Education Administrators from the South Central Region (SAU #25 - Bedford).. She received the Special Education Director of the Year Award.

About Dr. Mary Morse

Mary Morse, Ph.D. has more than 35 years of experience in the field of special education, primarily on behalf of students who have multiple disabilities including those who are blind, visually impaired or deaf-blind. She has worked in public and private schools, universities, and medical settings. She developed and, for 12 years, directed New Hampshire's statewide services for infants and young children diagnosed with multi-sensory disabilities. This was one of the first early intervention programs in the United States. In addition to the services listed below, Dr. Morse is engaged in a variety of research projects including a longitudinal study of students with cerebral/cortical visual impairment and students with facial recognition problems.  Dr. Morse has published numerous articles, and has received many regional and national awards for her work. Her services are provided in her home state of New Hampshire and throughout New England, the United States and in many other countries.

Currently, Dr. Morse provides the following services: (a) Educational assessments of functional behaviors, (b) assistance to Teams in developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans (IEP), (c) assistance to Teams in developing appropriate curriculum for individual students and adapting sensory environments, activities and materials. As appropriate, such curriculum includes methods for promoting communication in children who are functioning at a pre-symbolic or early symbolic level. (d) Finally, Dr. Morse provides numerous inservice training sessions and seminars at the request of a variety of local, national and international agencies. Doug is a low vision technology consultant to schools, agencies, and individuals. He was formerly the Vice President of Adaptive Technology Consulting of Salisbury MA and most recently the Manager of Low Vision and Learning Products at Perkins School for the Blind. He has worked with SERESC Vision Services providers over the past few years, providing technology evaluations and consultation to the students that they serve. He has provided Low Vision Technology training to the Veteran’s Administration of New England. His very specialized services are in demand in New Hampshire and the New England Region. He is familiar with most low vision adaptive tools and is adept at making recommendations for each individual need. He also is very experienced in software and hardware applications for individual with learning disabilities. He works with both children and adults.

Low Vision Consultant

Amy Halloran has been working in the field of low vision for 30 years, as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, Ophthalmic Technician, and Low Vision Consultant. She provides low vision consultations to schools, retirement communities, healthcare providers, and organizations as well as to individuals. She is a Low Vision Services Coordinator in a Seacoast ophthalmology practice and is a consultant to a state wide program for the visual needs of the aging population. Amy has a B.S. in Special Education for the Visually Impaired.
